Prayer letter - February - March 2016

Madrid, February 29th, 2016

Greetings

Dear brothers, sisters and friends:

It arrives late… but it is here. I am sorry for being so late this time, but everything is going well. Two months have already passed this year and I am writing to you in orther to update you.

Praying is useful. That is why I write these letters every month. And if the last month I was asking you to pray for work for my parents and for me, we can now thank God. Firstly, because my father has been working during this month in charge of a guy who has received the gospel through him, and he also made an interview with a public transportation company. Nevertheless, the guy did not want my father to continue working for him since this last week, so we are needed to pray for the situation again.

My situation was quite similar: I worked one week and two days in a company which renews its temporal staff every two weeks, and they made so with me and thirty-one more mates of the forty that started. However, I am not worried, but I would like you to continue praying for my parents’ situation.

God is answering

As I told you in the last letter, Aluche church (ICEA) has begun with a project called pioneering project, that is, a re-establishment process of the church in the neighbourhood and to come back to the evangelism and growing levels that the church had some years ago.

Due to a subject in the Seminar, I interviewed one of the pastors, Wenceslao, and I discovered that Aluche has been part of the establishment of seven churches, three of those churches (and Aluche) continue in their neighbourhoods by themselves.

As a part of this project, on the 21st they presented to the assembly the very next steps. At the moment, the people in charge is maintaining contact with different ministries and missions which may support us in all the parts of the projects. They are also looking for the people inside the church who will be prepared and will receive specific formation and then they will give it to the rest of the people inside of the church. I am part from this team.

From ICEA, we need you to continue praying for us, and specially I need you to pray for me because I can see God answering my prayers about what to do in Madrid and where to start. I think it is a long-time project and that it will not be easy, but we want to do it. These two past months have been intense in meetings with the team who is leading all forward, and there are lots of work yet to do.

I would like, after telling you all that is upper, to summarise the prayer topics here:

To be able to serve correctly in every place, and to be humble, especially working in the different projects.
The pioneering project and the new way to work with the young people.
To show the gospel in a correct, clear and comprehensive way.
For the souls that meet Jesus.
Wisdom for I can apply all what I am learning at Sefovan and do not leave it just as theory.
For God to continue providing all that the students need.
Thank God for all what He does.
My ministry contract.
The different ministries:
- Social work at "Aluche": Aluche is giving food to the needed people every Tuesday on the morning, and they can also hear the Gospel.
- OnTheRedBox®: From Monday to Saturday, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. they share the gospel in many different ways at Puerta del Sol.
- Barajas Biblical Church (IBB): They are now open! On January the church made it first service and they continue impacting the neighbourhood with the Gospel.
- Sefovan evangelism campaigns: In January, near Toledo, and in February at the capital, we have no stop. The next month, were God leads us. As we know well, Sefovan has the evangelism in its name.I want you to pray specially for two men, Santiago and Luis, to whom we talked last time.
- #ChuecaParaCristo (#ChuecaForChrist): After a lot of time and after meeting more than seventy people at Chueca, one of the girls who Erika met, Rebeca, has started to go with her to the church. (Chueca is the neighbourhood with more homosexuality and this kind of sin, so many people is discouraging the people who are working there)

Has it been any long? They are just few lines, but they summarise all what I have been and I am doing in Madrid until today. Please, continue praying as you have been doing, because its noticeable. We can see how God works on every situation and that He never forgets none of his sons. Thank you very much.

Sefovan

After good news, there are some others that are not so good: firstly, the youth group has decided to stop having meetings as a group to start having personal meetings with the youth pastors, in which the one-to-one discipleship is in the spotlight.Marcos and Lidia, the youth pastors, have just had their first son, Pablo, and they are really happy for his birth. We ask you to pray for them, for their growing as a marriage and family, and for God to prepare them to continue helping the young people at the church with their needs, and over all with the discipleship.

A (very) short summary of the last two months

Sefovan continues growing. Recently two more people came here: A Greek guy who has lived in Spain for the last ten years, and a missionary who wants to refresh his knowledge. But that is not all...

Sefovan has been looking during a long time for a place to start building its own campus that has everything prepared for the students such as classrooms, a chapel and conference hall, a new library, and also a place where to serve the community that is around it.

The project was presented many years ago, but this year is crucial because the Government of Madrid has said yes to the project with only two conditions: Sefovan must start building it

Good news

Not-so-good news

this year 2016, and that they make social work with the needed people – which will become in gospel-sharing ministries.

We must continue praying for the ministry that Sefovan is doing in the leaders’ formation and for God to show as his will regarding this project of having an own building.

Formation

During the last two months, we have done three different subjects at Sefovan: Bibliology and Introduction to the Theology; historical books of the Old Testament, and Principles for the churches establishment, with a pastor who started a church at San Sebastián.

Added to the Sefovan formation, I participated in the trilogy of the Gospel formation, by Óscar Pérez, about the church and the Gospel, as part of Especialidades Juveniles (Youth speciality).

Work and ministry

At the same time, I was looking for a job, and it took me two weeks to do a formation to work as part of the after-sales service team at of Vodafone. We worked seven days until we were fired.

Inside the church I am helping with the multimedia team, in projection and sound control during the Sunday’s services, and, as I told before, in the new project… (my schedule is full!). And of course, sharing the gospel, with Sefovan, and while working as well, with OnTheRedBox®…

But in every moment I can see that God is blessing. That there is no one greater than Him and that He is present in the littlest details of our live.
