Prayer letter - October 2015

Madrid, October, 24th, 2015

Greetings

Dear brothers, sisters and friends:

After a summer that has gone really quick, it is the moment to update you about how I am doing, what I have done and what I will do during this next course that has already started.

It has been a really both intense and interesting summer. I have been able to see God in a lot of occasions, both in my personal life and other moments in which He acted in front of me. This year I expended my summer, mainly, in sharing the gospel in the seminar campaigns, at Tenerife and Girona.

After this time of campaigns, and after enjoying some rest time with my family and friends, I went to England during September in order to improve my English skills at Capernwray, a Bible School..

Last summer

Tenerife Mission Trip 2015

I will start by telling you what we did in Tenerife. It was an impact week in the island. La Cuesta church invited us to help them with the evangelism and we, together with a big missionary team from the United States, made a campaign in which almost eight hundred people heard the gospel, and almost three hundred people made faith profession in one-to-one conversations. Thanks to the Lord for the salvation of these souls.!

It was a great time in which we could learn one from the other and enjoy a campaign with a country familiar atmosphere, with which we could invite people to come and preach openly a message of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.

Girona  Mission Trip 2015

This time nearer to my hometown, and with another team made of teenagers from the age of 15, the youngest, and to 18 the oldest (teenager, not the leaders), that came from the United States, we could make a very similar campaign to the one in Tenerife, this time in Girona. We collaborated with La Rutlla church, together with its pastor Samuel Filgueira and many young people of the church, to share the gospel and impact that city.

It was not easy to feel comfortable with the incredibly big presence of Muslims and to share the gospel to them, but we saw fruit during and after the campaign. Near six hundred people heard the gospel in one-to-one conversations, and more than two hundred people accepted Jesus as their saviour during this time.

Capernwray Hall

Capernwray Hall is one of those places where everyone would like to go back. I met wonderful and fantastic people, and I ask prayer from some of them especially:

  • Naemi, a young girl that now is a student there and that wants to serve God in some way, with a big charge for girls and women who are inside the prostitution world. God be guiding and preparing her.

  • Betty, her older sister. She is studying to be a cook and is serving there during the whole winter. She wants to learn more about the Bible and serve in a Christian place at the same time she gets her studies.

  • Sofia (Sofi), an Argentinian girl who needs direction in her future. What should I do after that? is a question that affects lots of people.

It was a time of blessing for everyone. We learnt one of the others while we were cleaning – and we cleaned a lot! – and we were serving people near us.

We are already doing the second subject of the course – Evangelism. After studying really hard Paul’s letters to the Corinthians and the Ephesians, it is being a rest to enjoy with what we are learning.

I ask for prayer for all the people that have started this new course with the same illusion I had one year ago, so God shows them their way to go and what they may do, which their specific call is.

This course's beginning

A new course has started, which means new challenges. I continue asking you to pray for me and for God to direct my life. I am pending to help in the new evangelism ministry at ICEA, my church here, at the same time that I try to help in many other ministries.

I have got a very big charge for the youth at Madrid in general, and unity within the churches and church to church, because it is something that is not seen. In fact, my youth group has decreased in number because of many reasons. Pray for it.

Nearest future

I would like, after explaining all what is before, to summarise in many points my prayer topics:

  • To be able to serve correctly in every place, and to be humble.

  • My work with the youth group and the evangelism ministry at Aluche church.

  • For the souls who meet Jesus.

  • Wisdom for I can apply all what I study at Sefovan and do not forget it as just theory.

  • Thank God for all what He does.

  • My ministry contract (Read it here).

  • The different ministries:

    • Social work at "Cristo Vive": Every Friday the gospel is shared and food is given to needed people.

    • OnTheRedBox®: From Monday to Saturday, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. they share the gospel in many different ways at Puerta del Sol.

    • Barajas Biblical Church (IBB): They now have a place they are rebuilding, but they need to get all the legal permits. Pray for Cristian, Carlos and Marcos the church pastors.

    • Sefovan evangelism campaigns: This course the evangelism campaigns continue. The first of them was on Saturday 17th at Plaza España at Madrid, and, even it rained, the gospel was shared with a great number of people.

    • #ChuecaParaCristo (#ChuecaForChrist): A Sefovan student, Erika, together with some voluntaries, are starting an impact ministry at Chueca neighbourhood. Pray for the Holy Spirit to direct and work in this project. (Chueca is the neighbourhood with more homosexuality and this kind of sin, so many people is discouraging the people who is working there))

    • Iglesia Cristiana Evangélica de Aluche (ICEA):

      • ICEA is about to start shortly a new evangelism ministry in which I would like to work. Pray for it.

      • The pastors want us to pray so they find a young (not youth) pastor that is prepared for the leadership at church..

Prayer topics

Farewell

I want to thank in advance all the people who are going to be praying for all what I wrote in this letter. For my part, and following God’s will, I will continue resting in Him in the beginning of this new course, both in my studies and working in different ministries.

I hope the Lord continue blessing you as He has been doing it until now;

Josuè Blasco i Vernedas.
